CPD Points Now Count Toward Licence Renewals as LAZ and ACC Rally at National Prosecutor’ Conference

Lusaka | 11 Aug, 2025 – In a major boost for Zambia’s prosecutors, the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) President, Mr. Lungisani Zulu, dropped game-changing news. He announced that, “Continuous
Professional Development (CPD)
Points would soon be mandatory for renewing practicing licences and that the Annual Prosecutors’ conference would count towards those points. “This conference now forms part of the CPD framework,” he declared,
“recognising the vital role prosecutors play in our justice system and the need for ongoing professional growth.
Consider this our investment in you, because when prosecutors grow stronger, Zambia’s justice system also grows stronger.”

The significant announcement came during Mr. Zulu’s opening address at the Third Annual National Prosecutors’ Conference.

Mr. Zulu further highlighted the unique position that National Prosecution Authority prosecutors hold in the Association, noting that “NPA lawyers form the largest constituent of LAZ membership” which is a clear indicator of their numerical and professional significance in Zambia’s legal landscape.

He praised NPA prosecutors for their integrity by turning down bribes and upholding justice. “You occupy a special place in our justice system,” he told attendees. “When you maintain ethical standards and resist undue influence, you don’t just secure convictions, you uphold the very foundation of public trust in our legal institutions.”
