Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe | December 1, 2025 – The Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network for Southern Africa (ARINSA) officially opened its 2025 Annual General Meeting today with a convening of its Steering Committee, bringing together representatives from all 17 member states at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge in Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe. The meeting marked a purposeful beginning to the Network\u2019s annual governance cycle and provided a structured opportunity to assess progress and refine priorities for the year ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held against the backdrop of one of Southern Africa\u2019s most iconic destinations, the Steering Committee reflected on ARINSA\u2019s achievements and the challenges facing the Network. Delegates engaged in constructive discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation, enhancing information sharing, and supporting the effective implementation of the Network\u2019s mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budget and funding considerations rounded out the agenda. The session included a detailed reflection on ARINSA\u2019s financial position and resource requirements, with a shared recognition that sustained support is essential to advancing capacity-building initiatives, technical operations, and the wider strategic objectives of the Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the meeting, member states demonstrated a strong collective commitment to reinforcing ARINSA\u2019s role as a central mechanism for regional cooperation. The discussions highlighted not only the progress made but also the shared resolve to confront emerging threats posed by illicit financial flows and organised criminals across Southern Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the next three days, delegates will continue with a dynamic program, beginning with the official opening ceremony and welcome remarks from regional and international leaders. They will review recent asset recovery cases, share lessons learned, discuss governance and operational priorities, engage with international partners, and participate in capacity-building workshops and bilateral meetings. The AGM will conclude with the inauguration of the incoming President and a closing ceremony, reinforcing ARINSA\u2019s ongoing commitment to regional collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
