Lusaka | March 19, 2026 \u2013 The success of the 2026 National Annual Prosecutors\u2019 Conference was not only the result of the dedication of the National Prosecution Authority but also the support of its partners and funders. Without their contributions, this gathering of 733 prosecutors, judicial officers, and international guests would not have been possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the opening session, representatives from partner organisations took a moment to share solidarity messages and highlight their commitment to supporting justice, democracy, and child protection in Zambia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Seth Broekman, Country Representative, United Nations Population Fund, applauded the commitment of prosecutors in upholding electoral integrity and safeguarding the rights of women and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. James Wakiaga, Country Representative, United Nations Development Programme, emphasized the importance of cross-institutional collaboration in strengthening Zambia\u2019s justice system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Dorah C. Mafabi, Director of the Zambia Bilateral Anti-Trafficking in Persons Programme at Save the Children International, highlighted the critical role of prosecutors in protecting children from exploitation, particularly during election periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Marc Nosbach, National Director of World Vision Zambia, reinforced the need for child-centred approaches in prosecutions and community-level interventions to protect young voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms. Mainga Kabika, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President \u2013 Gender Division, commended the conference for centering gender inclusivity and ensuring women\u2019s participation in democratic processes. She further warned that some political party officials are demanding sexual favours from aspiring female candidates in exchange for adoption, and called for a C5-type task force to fast-track investigations and prosecutions during the election period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference also benefited from the generous support of ZANACO Bank and ZCCM, whose funding made the convening and logistics of the conference possible. Though they were not present to give remarks, their contributions were acknowledged as essential to the conference\u2019s success.
Together, these partners and funders emphasised the message that meaningful progress is possible when institutions, communities, and international partners work hand in hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Fourth National Annual Prosecutors\u2019 Conference closed, it was clear that the achievements of the past three days were built not just on individual dedication, but on collaboration and solidarity, a model that will continue to strengthen Zambia\u2019s justice system and democracy in the years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
