
{"id":6066,"date":"2026-06-18T10:29:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T08:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.npa.gov.zm\/?p=6066"},"modified":"2026-06-18T10:30:04","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T08:30:04","slug":"npa-prosecutors-join-national-election-security-training-as-zambia-prepares-for-2026-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.npa.gov.zm\/index.php\/2026\/06\/18\/npa-prosecutors-join-national-election-security-training-as-zambia-prepares-for-2026-polls\/","title":{"rendered":"NPA PROSECUTORS JOIN NATIONAL ELECTION SECURITY TRAINING AS ZAMBIA PREPARES FOR 2026 POLLS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ndola | June 17, 2026 &#8211; Five prosecutors from the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) are among participants attending a high-level election security training programme in Ndola aimed at strengthening preparedness for Zambia&#8217;s 2026 General Elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The five-day workshop, running from 15 to 19 June under the theme &#8220;Policing for Peaceful Elections,&#8221; has brought together 60 officers from the Zambia Police Service and representatives from key institutions involved in election management, governance and justice administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme is funded by the Swedish Government through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and is being facilitated by the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) in collaboration with the Zambia Police Service (ZPS), the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA), the Human Rights Commission (HRC) and the Ministry of Mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representing the NPA are Mrs. Magaret Kapambwe-Chitundu, Deputy Chief State Advocate in the Gender-Based Crimes and Child Protection Department (GBCCPD); Ms. Judith Mayiya, State Advocate, Ndola, Mrs. Brenda K. Nyambe, State Advocate of Kitwe; Ms. Juliet Kabwe, State Advocate, in the GBCCPD and Mr. Angel Mwape, Senior Public Prosecutor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A notable feature of the training came on on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, when Mrs. Magaret Kapambwe-Chitundu delivered a presentation titled &#8220;Children and Young Persons&#8217; Involvement in Caderism and Electoral Violence: Its Impact on the Community and Prevention Strategies.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her presentation focused on the growing concern of children&#8217;s involvement in caderism and electoral violence, while highlighting strategies aimed at preventing their exploitation during electoral processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The participating prosecutors are attached to two specialised training streams covering strategic intelligence analysis, electoral violence investigations, election offences, prosecution processes, cyber-related threats and conflict de-escalation techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NPA&#8217;s participation reflects the institution&#8217;s continued commitment to promoting peaceful elections, strengthening the rule of law and supporting a coordinated national response to electoral offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Zambia moves closer to the 2026 General Elections, initiatives such as this training are expected to enhance cooperation among key stakeholders responsible for safeguarding electoral integrity, public order and confidence in the democratic process.<br>The workshop concludes on 19 June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ndola | June 17, 2026 &#8211; Five prosecutors from the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) are among participants attending a high-level election security training programme in Ndola aimed at strengthening preparedness for Zambia&#8217;s 2026 General Elections.
