Man Accused of Sexually Abusing Daughter in Hospital Pleads Not Guilty
Today, 9th May, 2025, at the Lusaka Magistrate’s Court, a man alleged to have sexually abused his daughter while she was undergoing treatment for cancer in hospital has taken plea. It is alleged that between the 20th day of September, 2024 and the 11th day of March, 2025, the said man at Lusaka had carnal knowledge of a child, who to his knowledge was his biological daughte
Appearing before the Resident Magistrate, Honourable K. Mwamfuli, the accused entered a plea of not guilty to the charge brought against him. The case, which has attracted public concern due to its disturbing nature, is scheduled to commence trial on the 9th and 10th days of June, 2025.
Due to the provisions of the Children’s Code Act No. 12, the identity of the Accused cannot be disclosed, as doing so may lead to the identification of the child victim, his daughter. It must be noted that publishing such details is strictly prohibited under the law in order to protect the privacy and welfare of children involved in criminal proceedings.
