Officially opened by the Prime Minister of Tanzania, Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, the conference is convened under the theme:

“Leveraging Technology in Combating Wildlife and Transnational Organised Crime.”

The programme brings into focus the growing intersection between digital innovation and criminal enterprise, particularly in the context of wildlife crime and illicit financial flows.

Proceedings began on Sunday, May 3, with a welcoming reception, setting the stage for a packed agenda that moved into full session on Monday.

The opening ceremony featured remarks from regional and international justice leaders, including Renson M. Ingonga, President of the EAAP, alongside contributions from global partners such as EUROJUST and TRAFFIC International.

As deliberations continue, the conference is expected to deepen regional cooperation and reinforce a shared prosecutorial front against increasingly sophisticated and transnational forms of crime placing collaboration, innovation, and coordinated action at the centre of the region’s justice agenda.
