The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) welcomes the landmark judgment by the High Court in a case that highlights the importance of integrity and accountability in Zambia’s tax system. The case, involving Kennedy Likomeno (First Respondent) and Liko Industries & Logistics Company Limited (Second Respondent), revolved around allegations of filing fraudulent tax returns to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), raising critical issues regarding criminal intent and the standard of proof required in tax offences.

Court of Appeal upholds a life imprisonment sentence imposed on Jaiko Hamweenzu of Kapiri Mposhi who caused the death of an eight year old girl by suffocating her during the course of a very violent sexual assault of anal penetration. The Court of Appeal went further to state that the depressing circumstances of the case warranted the imposition of a very severe sentence, even if the appellant was a first offender who readily admitted the charge. 

Court of Appeal dismisses an appeal by Kenny Figo who murdered two Chinese nationals in Mumbwa in 2019. The Court has since upheld the Conviction and Sentence imposed by the trial Court.

Kawambwa Member of Parliament; Nickson Chilangwa and four others denied bail pending appeal by the Kabwe High Court saying that being a Member of Parliament is not an exceptional circumstance warranting Mr. Chilangwa to be granted bail pending appeal.
