PUBLIC CLARIFICATION- THE PEOPLE VS JOE MALANJI AND FREDSON YAMBA

The NPA wishes to inform the public that, as the Court was informed, a laptopand 2 note books containing notes on the above stated case were stolen. Thiswas after unknown people broke into our Prosecutor’s vehicle by smashing thefront rear window (tinted) of the vehicle.No evidence in this or any other court case, was taken in that incident. The Statehas not lost any evidence or document that was produced or intended to be used,in the Fredson Yamba and Joe Malanji matter.The public is further informed that our Prosecutors do not carry dockets orexhibits intended to be tendered into Court to their homes. All dockets andpotential exhibits are kept in the Authority’s or relevant Law EnforcementAgency’s custody .Thank you.

Inter Agency Task Force Kicks Off Multi Sectoral Training Of Trainers

Following the inter agency framework signed by law enforcement agencies in January 2023, the NPA and the Attorney General’s Alliance – Africa Programme, have joined hands to conduct an in service training on financial crimes and asset recovery. Inter-agency coordination is necessary to improve effectiveness and efficiency and avoid the duplication of work in investigation, prosecution and enhancing asset recovery efforts in Zambia. Consequently, the importance of building the capacity of all criminal justice stakeholders in crime prevention, investigation, prosecution, and asset recovery in order to disrupt criminal activities and syndicates cannot be over-emphasised. One of the focuses of the framework is therefore capacity building through ‘aggressive’ training.
