Mongu | February 16, 2026 – The Western Province team of the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) convened at Makapaela Resort on Saturday, February 14, 2026, for a team-building retreat aimed at strengthening collaboration and internal cohesion.
The gathering brought together members of staff from across the province. Clad in vibrant red attire symbolising unity and collective resolve, staff stepped away from court schedules and office demands to engage in structured activities and reflective discussions designed to enhance cooperation and workplace synergy.
Senior State Advocate for Western Province, Mr. Dean Akalemwa, welcomed the newly posted Acting Deputy Chief State Advocate (Western Province), Ms. Mwangala Iris Mwala, and restated the Authority’s focus on professionalism and teamwork.
The retreat also provided an opportunity to formally recognise service and transition within the Authority. Representing staff, Senior Human Resource Management Development Officer (SHRMDO) Mrs. S. Phiri-Ngwira delivered farewell remarks in honour of Mr. Thomas Mufaya, who has since joined the Attorney General’s Chambers, as well as Mr. Mushoke, who retired after years of dedicated public service.
In her address, Ms. Mwala urged officers to uphold integrity, discipline and accountability in the execution of their duties. She emphasised that strong prosecution work depends not only on legal knowledge, but on trust, unity and consistent hard work. She further encouraged staff to support one another, maintain high ethical standards and remain focused on delivering justice efficiently and fairly.
The retreat forms part of ongoing efforts by the NPA to strengthen teamwork and enhance institutional performance in Western Province.
