MEET THE NPA INTEGRITY COMMITTEE

Lusaka | October 5, 2026 – Behind the National Prosecution Authority’s drive to strengthen integrity, ethical conduct and accountability is a team tasked with keeping those principles firmly in view.

The Committee forms part of Zambia’s wider Integrity Committee Programme, introduced in 2006 as a national approach to preventing corruption by encouraging institutions to identify risks, strengthen internal systems and build a culture of integrity.

The programme is implemented through Government in conjunction with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which provides technical support, training, guidance and monitoring to institutional Integrity Committees.

At NPA, the Committee is chaired by Ms. Cassandra Soko, with Mrs. Mercy Lungu serving as Vice Chairperson.

Supporting the Committee is its Secretariat headed by Mr. Mukuma Chipawa;

Mrs. Mwaka Zulu;

Ms. Marvis Munyeka.

Their work is about more than policies on paper. It is about helping NPA officers understand and apply principles of integrity in the decisions and situations they encounter every day.

From the September 30 to September 2, 2026, the Committee began a series of engagements in Lusaka covering the NPA National Integrity Committee, Gift Policy, Whistle-Blower Policy, Code of Ethics, Conflict of Interest Policy, Culture Change and Digital Transformation.

Through practical scenarios, discussions and quizzes, participants were challenged not simply to know the policies, but to think about how they apply in real life.

And Lusaka was only the beginning.

The Committee’s engagements are planned to continue across NPA offices in Zambia, taking the integrity conversation closer to officers across the country.

This week, the Integrity Committee is on the Copperbelt… See our photo below of the Chairperson Vice Chairperson and the Focal Point Person for the Copperbelt province.

Because ultimately, integrity is not just about knowing the rules.

It is about how we choose to act when the decision is ours to make.
